Thoroughly enjoyed our week off! Lovely coastal walks at Lynton and Lynmouth, great cream tea at Cliff Top Café in Lynton. Cottage in a beautiful setting. Loved the pond and cups of tea on the decking.July 2015 Mandy and Chris, Staffordshire
As a recently retired couple, the cottage was just perfect for us. The setting is idyllic and as we had relatively good weather, we enjoyed sitting on the decking, taking-in the peace and quiet. We had three evening meals at the Pyne Arms, a friendly pub with good food. It’s about 20 minutes each way to walk. Otherwise we ate in the cottage.
Living as we do in Leicestershire, we don’t see much of the sea, so we spent most days walking along the amazing coast paths. We took Niels advice and parked in Mortehoe on 2 days and walked around Morte Point and Bull Point (look out for basking seals!) and Lee Bay. There are a number of little beaches including Sandy Cove that you can drop down to. We also climbed Little Hangman from Combe Martin and Great Hangman from Holdstone Down.
For a truly unique walk we parked at Lea Abbey Estate and walked through the Valley of the Rocks to Lynton and then Lynmouth, returning along the coast path. There is a popular cable railway from Lynmouth to Lynton if you can’t face the hill on the way back. The memorial to the people killed in the flood of 1952 in Lynmouth is worth a visit - interesting and moving.June 2015 Roger and Fidelma, Loughborough
Lovely holiday - a beautiful setting.June 2015 Kay and John, Buckinghamshire

Thank you for the wine and welcome. Could not ask for better host’s and cottage is perfect. Thank you again.May 2015 The Stephen’s, Hertfordshire
A wonderful week. The cottage had everything we needed in order to really enjoy our time. The coastline around Morte Point and the Valley of the Rocks was stunning. Enjoyed walking with so many footpaths to choose from! Arlington court and Watersmeet were excellent.
We have had a really wonderful time here and we would love to return one day to explore the area more. The highlights were the walks, absolutely breath-taking and just our idea of the ultimate day out. Thank you for a great stay!April 2013 Lauren and Sam, London
Only 4 nights here but loved it, very peaceful and private. Cosy cottage with everything that we needed - even a bottle of wine! Thank you. Accessible to so many lovely places to visit in Devon. Arlington Court was nearby and if you’re not a fan then try Knightshayes Court - a little further away but well worth the travel. Loved all coastal resorts - Lynton and Lynmouth were very nice, Watersmeet was lovely. There were lots of walking areas and beautiful countryside and wildlife. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Actually chose here as we were visiting Rosemoor RHS - not too far away and worth the visit if you like gardens and Marwood Hill Gardens is closer.September 2012 The Smith’s
We came hoping for seclusion, rest and relation. We got all these things and more. This is a particularly beautiful corner of a beautiful country. Your warm and friendly approach was the icing on the cake. 10/10!August 2011 Kevin and Marina, London
Lovely! Lovely! Lovely!August 2011 The Hasting’s, East Sussex
Idyllic spot, great for re-charging the batteries.August 2011 The Ackland’s, Buckinghamshire
We chose this cottage as a short break (4 days) because it is a great location for lots of Geocaching in the area. Fantastic size for 2, lovely and spacious, cosy and warm in the evenings after our long days of walking. Saw a fox on the hill outside on our first morning which was lovely, and a Dipper fishing in the stream outside. We walked our legs off by day 4, now it’s time to pack up and head home.
Thanks Alex and Neil you’ve given us a lovely little break to always remember. Hopefully we will see you again in the future.October 2013 Michelle and Steve
We came for 2 weeks last August and loved it so much that we just had to come back this year. Unfortunately only for a week this time but definitely as idyllic as we remembered. We sat out in the mornings having breakfast and sat in the setting sun of evenings, we could never tire of this setting! Thank you so much Alex and Neil for providing us with such the perfect piece of tranquillity.June 2013 Denise and Steve, Swindon
We can only repeat the previous comments - this is a perfect little cottage with everything needed in a beautiful area. The weather has been mixed but we have had lovely days out in Ilfracombe, Atlantic shopping Village (on a rainy morning), Lynton and Lynmouth (worth the coastline walk to Valley of the Rocks) and the cliff railway, Clovelly (hard work walking down and back up but worth it), Instow (sitting on seafront one warm afternoon), Westward Ho! (on the hottest day of the year!), West Somerset Railway from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard.
We have had 3 excellent meals in the Muddiford Inn, 2 excellent meals in the Black Venus Inn (a lovely old pub) and 1 excellent meal in the Pyne Arms (great food but not a lot of choice on the menu).
The cottage is wonderful, we have managed to sit out on the decking and have managed one breakfast outside - look out for the family of ducks! We certainly have loved this area and still feel that there are more places to see - we will be back!June 2013 Pam and Graham, Manchester
Perfect for our honeymoon, many thanks.July 2011 Dominic, Rebecca and Rowen, London
Lovely cottage, perfect for our honeymoon! Definitely will visit again thank you.July 2011 Sarah and Wayne, Leighton Buzzard
The accommodation was all we hoped it would be, very warm as winter seems to still be with us so the place was nice to come home to. We have felt very welcome here and would have no trouble in recommending this holiday accommodation to anyone. Lots of Roach, Rudd and the odd brown Trout, shame the carp have gone, seems the local otter is the prime suspect.March 2010 Peter and Sharon, Surrey
Thank you for a lovely stay. The accommodation was beautiful and the area very peaceful. We hope to come again someday.April 2010 Ian and Nicola, Middlesex
Had a fantastic long weekend here. Just chilled out all the time. Barry did a lot of fishing at the owner’s pond. The cottage was very cosy and homely. Alex had thought of everything - it was like home from home. Had no problem with the horses, the yard was spotless. We would love to return when we are able to. We are definitely going to recommend this place to all of our friends and family. Thank you very much Alex for a wonderful stay. Just what we needed.February 2010 Bev and Barry, Weston-Super-Mare
